Summer Picnic
Although participation was limited at the July picnic, those of us who
attended had a wonderful evening of good food and even better company.
Thanks to Mary Lee and John Sparks for sharing their home for this
special event.

The Texas Mycological Society encourages NMMS members to join
them in Taos, August 18-20, for their Annual Foray. The Foray will be
headquartered at the
Taos Motel & RV Park in Ranchos
de Taos. Foray fee is $60 (does not include lodging or meals).
Please send Registration Form to
the Texas Mycological Society (address on form).

Response to the Chiricahua trip has been so poor that we have abandoned
the idea of holding the NMMS Foray there. The Texas Mycological
Society's Taos Foray will take the place of our Annual Foray.
Thank you to Bob Chapman for the energy you put into trying to pull
together what might have been a very instructive and enjoyable Foray.
Another year, perhaps?
Tjakko Stijve in Switzerland contacted Ted Stampfer with a request for
specimens of Podaxis pistillaris, Gyrophragmium texensis,
& Montagnea arenarius. It sounds a though there's some chocolate in
the deal for Ted if we can come up with some specimens.
Note: For illustrations and information on these
species,

Mushrooms Demystified.
Scouting Report - Santa Fe Ski Basin - 15 July
http://www.swcp.com/mycowest/members/ft000715.htm
Terri and I paid a short visit to Santa Fe Ski Basin, walking up to about
10,800 feet. Mushrooms? Not yet. All we found were one patch of LBM's and
a couple of Cortinarii. Give it two or three more weeks and a bit
more rain.
Barbara Marigold Dolloff
reports that she has been "feasting on good edibles for about a month
now," finding a diversity of mushrooms around her home in Rociada (north
of Las Vegas, NM). She suggests that NMMS members might want to
join her for some morning foraging on Saturday & Sunday (Aug 5-6).
