Meeting
Our next
meeting will be August 5th, 7:30PM at the Natural History Museum.
We will not have a special program at the regular meeting time but will
dedicate the meeting to discussion of the upcoming foray(s). We encourage
members to bring anything (fungal or food) they want to share or
discuss.
We are having a speaker in an additional program this month scheduled for
Tuesday, August 12th, 7:30PM at the Bernalillo County
Cooperative Extension Building at 1510 Menaul Blvd. NW (where
Indian School and Menaul join). Grace Sparks from the University of
Washington - College of Forest Resources will speak on the "Influence of
Conifer Forest clearcut edges on sporocarp production by ectomicorrhizal
fungi." We are very lucky to have Grace "happen" to be in Albuquerque and
willing to give her presentation and we hope there will be a good
turnout.

New Members
NMMS welcomes two new members this month: Martha Griswold and Ray Andraka.
Brief Mushroom Report
I have already harvested between 400-500 Marasmius oreades from my
front yard this season. At this rate, in another month and a half or so,
I will have enough to come up with a recipe.
